RWM 2022 Marketing manager’s review

RWM is considered the UK’s leading event for waste, resource and sustainability professionals, an event Cromwell has attended for almost two decades. The established exhibition grants us the platform to connect and build relationships with professionals across the waste management sector.

This year RWM joined forces with the Let’s Recycle Live Show to create the largest event seen by either show, spanning four Halls and 15,000m2 of outdoor space. The synergy brought live demonstrations to showcase Refuse collection vehicles, Skip and hook loaders, Street sweepers, Grab loaders and material reprocessing. This new aspect allows attendees to see the vehicles and machinery displayed in action, showcasing their key features and practicality.

This year’s event was expected to receive over 12,000 budding visitors, all eager to expand their network and knowledge within the waste management industry. Visitors flooded the isles, pouring into stands as they introduced themselves to the exhibitors. It is fantastic to see the progress we have made as a nation back to pre-pandemic times with people having face to face conversations with one another.

This year, the Bio-based Biodegradable Industries Association approached us with the idea of sharing a stand under the name the Compostable Packaging Zone. We felt this was the perfect opportunity for us to develop our relationship with the BBIA and fellow members whilst promoting our compostable liner range. Over the two days, we spoke to various organizations including, local authorities, waste management companies and wholesalers to name a few. Meeting these individuals allowed us to share our brand story and delve into the topic of our compostable liners.

During the event, we also attended several seminars that explored current topics like the Plastic Packing Tax and upcoming legislation changes like the Deposit Return Scheme, Extended Producer Responsibility and Mandatory Separate Food Waste Collection.

Overall, the event was a great opportunity to meet new people, reconnect with those we have not seen for a while, educate ourselves on industry changes and build on our partnership with the BBIA.
