Cromwell’s Coffee & Cake for Charity

For many years, Cromwell has proudly supported many charities, and their fundraising events and one cause we annually take part in is the Macmillan Coffee Morning. Macmillan is a charity very close to the hearts of all our staff, and hosting a coffee morning has been a staple in our office for several years. Macmillan launched their fundraising coffee morning back in the 1990’s, the original concept was simple, a coffee with friends or family which helped raise money for charity. The idea was quickly adopted by many, and the introduction of cakes, and treats helped the event evolve to the concept it is today. Since its launch, the annual Coffee Morning has raised over £290 million for Macmillan, and Cromwell are pleased to have helped contribute towards this figure.

Once again our team turned their (chef) hats to baking, as they headed to the kitchen to create some delicious treats! Other staff also helped to raise money by bringing in some equally delectable shop-bought delights, all of which were spread out for our team to come and enjoy. Both savoury and sweet treats were on offer, including some baking classics, as well as some more unique bakes. Donations were made to Macmillan for those who indulged in the tasty treats, which all staff very willingly gave towards. We also tried to create a theme for the bake sale and chose ‘racing/sports’ to honor Adam’s recent Spartathlon success, this saw a few bakers decorating their culinary creations with the theme in mind.

Alongside the sweet and savoury treats, we also had a few games, to help to bump up the fundraising figure even more! The ever-popular ‘How Many Sweets in a Jar’ saw staff putting their guessing skills to the test, whilst the ‘Find Colin the Catipillar’ was a classic scavenger hunt, with the winner being the person who found Colin first. To play each game a donation was also asked for, with staff once again generously donating towards.

After a full day of fundraising, chocolate, and fun – all that was left was a few crumbs and cake tins. The organisers counted all donations, both cash, and online transfers, and were delighted to announce we raised an incredible £118.10 for the Macmillan Charity. We were overwhelmed by the support and donations from staff, this is such an incredible amount that will help the charity immensely. Thank you to Macmillan for your tireless work, we hope to raise more money in next year’s Coffee Morning.
