How much have your bag needs changed?

2023 sees the celebration of 40 years in business for Cromwell, and over these 4 decades, a lot has changed, not only for our business but for the industry and our customers. Since our formation in 1983, the way in which waste is handled has altered, recycling has become more widely recognised and new innovations have come to the industry. Cromwell is constantly striving to improve the quality of goods and services, continually keeping on top of changes to waste management strategies, and that of our customers.

Changes in circumstance

Increase in demand: In many cases, customers need a larger supply of waste sacks, so they switch to larger pallet quantities. Typically this happens when they see an increase in demand for bags, e.g. more waste being produced, or for local authorities, an increase in the number of households/residents, which means more bins and bags are required.

Different-sized bags: It is not unknown for local authorities and businesses alike to change bin sizes. This could be reducing the size of the bin or providing larger receptacles, either way requires a new liner size. We often see this in household waste bins, such as general waste or food caddy liners, as the way the waste is collected adapts.

Increase thickness or weight: Seen an increase in the amount or weight of your captured waste? Heavier waste requires a stronger bag to facilitate a secure capture, this is often when customers look at a thicker bag or one with a larger capacity rating. The CHSA ratings helps the customer navigate which bag is best for the amount of waste being captured.

Change in application: Often we need a new or different bag to fit a certain application, for example, if food waste caddies are introduced, a switch to compostable liners is often a popular choice for customers. If you are looking for a more efficient way to dispense your bags, customers will often switch to bags on a roll. Bags on a roll have a number of different benefits including easier portion control, neater appearance, and easier storage capabilities.

We encourage all customers, existing or new, to check the bags they stock, and see if there is room for improvement, if so get in touch with the team at Cromwell – we would be happy to survey your bags and find you cost-effective, improved solutions!
