With the Summer season coming to an end, albeit a rather rainy one this year, a new time of year commences – football season, for us this means a new year of sponsorship for our local club. Sherburn White Rose Football Club is an FA Standard chartered sports club, first established in the 1960’s. The club is located in the same town as head office, Sherburn in Elmet and has a junior and senior section with teams from under 7’s through to over 35’s. For 5 years, Cromwell has sponsored a youth team from the Sherburn White Rose Football Club, and this year we have a fresh new team – the youngest of the bunch, the under 7’s club.
Cromwell takes Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously and as such has implemented many steps to contribute to societal goals that are intended to have a positive influence on the world, whilst also taking a focus on the local area. Each year we sponsor a local team from the Sherburn White Rose Football Club. This sponsorship goes towards paying for the kit of the team, which will include Cromwell’s logo in turn.
For many years we have sponsored the same team, following their journey from an U12s team to their final season as an U15s team. This year the team have sadly disbanded and our hopes for sponsorship were stalled. That was until we were approached by the new head coach and local man, Tom Crossley. Tom was looking for a sponsor for his brand new under 7’s team, a first for Sherburn White Rose and was formed after an increase in demand for a new junior team of that age. Tom Crossley played for the club in his youth and is now helping the squad prepare for their first ever season.
Meeting The Team
It was important to us that we gained a good relationship with the squad, as such we were very eager to meet this new generation of budding footballers. We organised a ‘Kit Hand Out’ at Cromwell, where Tom the head coach and a few of his squad came to meet us, here the children got an opportunity to try on their new kits! It was also great to meet Tom and discuss our future plans with the team, he stated:
‘It is great to have Cromwell support the club for another year; they have been great sponsors of our teams for many years now and now it is the Under 7’s turn to represent. The team all love their kits and jackets and are looking forward to wearing them in their upcoming games. Thank you to Cromwell for their support, we look forward to building our connection with you and seeing you at our future games.’
The Season Ahead
Our sponsorship does not end with the supply of the kits, we plan to follow the teams journey throughout their new season. We will attend their matches and show our support, we also want to install a ‘keep a clean sheet initiative’ to educate the team on topics like waste management and recycling. We also plan to continue the joint local litter pick with the team, cleaning up the pitch at Sherburn White Rose Football Club. We wish our new sponsored squad the very best of luck in their new season, we are delighted to be a part of it!
