Cromwell Wins at FPA Awards!

On March 7th, Cromwell was delighted to attend the FPA (Foodservice Packaging Association) Awards at the The Grand Hotel in Brighton, and what a grand event it was! The food service industry is one we have been supplying for many years, and we are continually expanding our product offerings to adapt to this ever-changing market, which is why our membership with the FPA is very important to us, and regularly support their events and exhibitions. This year we were the proud sponsors of the Marketing Campaign category at the FPA Awards, which recognises excellence in marketing and promotion by FPA member companies. Campaigns can include advertising, social media, video, exhibitions, posters, merchandise, websites, email promotions, and print including brochures. At the event it fell to our Sales Manger, Tom Canner, to present the award to the winning company, which after much deliberation was Klöckner Pentaplast for Beating the Ban: kp Infinity and TikTok!

But it wasn’t just the sponsorship we were there for, we also had 3 awards nominations ourselves! Cromwell has two products shortlisted for the Product Innovation Awards category. The first was our newly launched compostable gloves, under the brand name ‘Glovelee’. These gloves are fully compostable and food-safe, allowing them the perfect option for handling food. The second shortlisting was for our new innovation of poly-packed products, an alternative to traditional packaging materials. This new packaging is made from recycled polythene, a much lighter solution to cardboard cartons that provides equal protection. We also had the honour of having a nomination in the ‘Rising Star Awards’, as our Marketing Manager Josh Wood received a worthy shortlisting. Josh has been with us for 3 years now. The FPA have the perfect description of Josh, as a ‘ trailblazer at Cromwell and was nominated for his holistic approach to the business, spanning brand development, sales strategy and a strong commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.’ Always going the extra mile with his commitment, Josh has also recently achieved a Diploma in Sustainable Marketing and become Carbon Literate!

After an amazing evening, joined by the brilliant company of other organisations within the industry, the night finished with an award! We are so thrilled to be the winners of this year’s FPA Product Innovation – back of House Award as judged by an independent panel of industry professionals and sponsored by Bidfood UK. The award was for our Glovelee compostable gloves which has been a true team effort across the organisation.

Glovelee comes in a range of 4 different sizes and are made from and packaged in compostable material, which breaks down and becomes metabolised by microorganisms when disposed of in both home and industrial composting. This enables the gloves to serve as a resource efficient alternative, diminishing the reliance on materials with limited recycling outlets. The outer packaging is also compostable, reshaping standards and championing resource efficiency within the food service and catering sector.

It was a fantastic evening, enjoyed by all and congratulations to all the nominees and winners – we are proud to be a part of such a prosperous and ever-evolving industry! If you would like to like to learn more about our award winning compostable gloves, please contact our team.
