Cromwell considers, Which Litter Picker is Best?

Each year, as Keep Britain Tidy’s GB Spring Clean rolls around, the team at Cromwell hits the local industrial estate, armed with bags and little pickers, ready to tackle the waste issues in our area. Alongside the action, we provide advice to help customers find which bag is best for their waste management strategies.

Cromwell considers, Which Litter Picker is Best?

For 2026, we have gone the extra mile and tested Amazon’s most popular litter pickers too. Each litter picker comes with its own design quirks, from handle types to picker mechanisms. The idea was simple; if you are going to pick up rubbish, you might as well know which tool does the job properly, to help you choose the best grabber for your waste! So, which picker is best? The results are in!

Litter Picker 1 – EZPIK

The first, and perhaps most popular litter picker we tested was the EZIK Long Handled Grabber, a firm favourite on Amazon. Marketed as premium quality, durable, heavy-duty, sturdy and foldable, it certainly arrives with confidence. But did the picker live up to expectations?

First impressions were strong. The handle is comfortable, with subtle gel padding that improves grip over longer use. The claw is practical and versatile, with a wide surface and built-in magnet. This makes it easy to pick up everything from bulky litter to small metal items. It was also fully capable of picking up the suggested weight. However, the extra length helps reach awkward areas and outperforms a standard 32-inch picker, though it can reduce precision when placing waste into a bag.

Overall, it is a strong, dependable tool. The collapsible design makes storage and transport simple, earning it 4.5 Daisies out of 5.

Litter Picker 2 – VIVE

Next up, we tested the popular Vive Suction Cup Reacher Grabber, another highly rated option on Amazon. Promoted as lightweight, easy to store, with an ergonomic grip and strong suction cup tips, it certainly sounded promising. None of us had used a suction cup style picker before, so expectations were high.

On first inspection, the picker felt lighter than others, though slightly less sturdy. Its simple design and well-judged length make collecting and transferring litter straightforward.

The suction cup tips grip loose items well, but struggle with embedded or uneven waste. The unpadded handle is comfortable enough at first, but less so during extended use. Overall, it works well for easy litter but falls short on tougher jobs and feels less robust than traditional claw designs. It scored 3 Daisies out of 5.

Litter Picker 3 – Helping Hand Company

We mixed things up with our third contender by introducing a completely different design, the Helping Hand Company Ranger MAX Tong Style Litter Picker. This heavy-duty, long-handled grabber features wide-opening tongs with gripped, magnetic ends. A noticeable shift from the traditional claw style.

This was our first time using a tong-style picker, and it impressed. It is lightweight, easy to use, and handles larger, bulkier items with ease thanks to its wide opening and gripped magnetic ends. However, the extra length, while useful for reach, made transferring litter into a bag more awkward. The rubber handle also felt less comfortable than expected, leading us to grip the arms instead.

Overall, it is a capable tool for heavier tasks, though slightly too long for everyday use. It scored 4 Daisies out of 5.

Litter Picker 4 – Helping Hand Company.

It seems the Helping Hand Company knows a thing or two about litter pickers, as they appeared again in our test lineup, this time with their Classic Pro Reacher Grabber. Unlike the tong-style Ranger MAX, this model returns to a more traditional design, featuring the familiar string mechanism that helps maintain grip strength over time and extend the product’s lifespan.

The ergonomic handle feels comfortable and well-balanced, while the magnetised, gripped tip offers good control and precision. It performs well for everyday litter, especially in tighter spaces.

However, it struggles with heavier items and can cause some rubbing during extended use. At 32 inch, it offers a good balance of reach and control, and is the lightest option tested.

Overall, a reliable picker for general use, but not suited to heavier tasks. It scored 3.5 Daisies out of 5.

Litter Pick 5 –  FitPlus

We saved the best until last, the FitPlus Foldable Wide Jaw Gripper. At 32 inch, it strikes the ideal balance between reach and control, with a heavy duty build and magnetic tips.

It stands out immediately. The non-slip jaws offer excellent grip, while the gel-padded handle is comfortable even during longer use. Performance is strong across the board, handling both light and heavier items with ease and working well in tight spaces.

The rotatable head is a real advantage, allowing better positioning and precision. Overall, a standout performer that is strong, comfortable and versatile. It scored a full 5 Daisies out of 5.
