On November 2023rd the Yorkshire and Humberside Family Business Awards 2023 was in full swing and Cromwell was represented by Alex & Henry Lee, accompanied by wives Charlie & Sarah, a true family affair. We were delighted to hear Cromwell had been announced as the winner of ‘The Judges Award’.
The award presenter, William Whitaker of Whitaker’s Chocolates, Skipton read the following (picture right):
“The winners of this award are modest in the way that they feel like many others tonight, it is the people who are the heart of their business and the ones that make them stand out in their industry.
However, our judges felt that the true leadership from the family, and the future plans with the next generations at the helm could not go unnoticed.
Through the judge’s comments and discussions on the main judging day and conversations following their visit, this family business is worthy of this year’s Judges award.”
We are delighted with the award and what it represents for us at Cromwell. During our interview in the judgement phase, judge Isabelle Clough from Cardale Asset Management was hugely excited about the products we supply and impressed with the site at Sherburn. Commenting multiple times on the cleanliness of the warehouse in particular, which is a credit to our wonderful warehouse team. Interesting products and clean facilities aside, these are not the primary contributors which secured the award for Cromwell. As illustrated in the above words from the judges, the distinction is the effort, commitment, and loyalty of the whole Cromwell team that sets us apart. This win represents recognition for the whole team we are lucky to have at Cromwell.
The award illustrates that our culture of excellence has the capacity to elevate us to the position of industry leaders – regardless of industry. We are confident that this will be the first of many more in the future provided we stay true to the Cromwell way.
