As the festive season fast approaches and we reach the end of what has been an unusual year, we are having a look back at what has happened at Cromwell during 2020!
Despite the pandemic, here at Cromwell Polythene and CPR Manufacturing, we have continued our services, helping to ensure an uninterrupted supply to our customers and essential workforces.
New Year – New Venture
We started the year with a bang when the Cromwell Group acquired CPR Manufacturing back in January. CPR (Cromwell Plastics Recycling) Manufacturing Ltd is the new name for a long-established polythene business, formerly known as Moorgreen Flexible Packaging based in Alfreton, Derbyshire.
The move compliments Cromwell’s existing Polythene Recovery Service which facilitates the collection of used polythene packaging from customers and helps keep this valuable resource in the UK. The site has increased the group’s capacity to recover and reprocess scrap polythene, furthering its ambitions to stimulate the circular economy of resources.
Improvements in Technology
The service in which we provide our customers is at the upmost importance to us, we are continually looking to enhance our ways of working to help improve customer experience.
With this in mind, we have recently introduced a new order processing system called ‘Dynamics NAV’. In comparison to our old system, NAV has much greater order fulfilment capabilities, allowing our processes to become far more streamline. This improvement in the system, allows us to be fully optimised and provide a far greater and more efficient and effective service.
Fountain of Knowledge
Keen to keep our marketing and literature fresh and educational, earlier this year we created our very own Cromwell Literature Bank.
Here you can view or download a range of our literature – these information sheets cover a wide range of topics in the waste management and recycling industry and aims to strengthen your knowledge, promote our services and products, whilst educating people on the benefits of plastic as a material.
Regularly updated and refreshed with new information and handy guides, it is a great resource of knowledge.
It is a great honour to us when our product ranges are nominated and shortlisted many industry awards. Two of our bespoke, high performance/low resources ranges are often the subject to award nominations, and 2020 has proved no different.
This year our LowCO2T range was a finalist in the Tomorrow’s Cleaning awards 2020. Our Polythene Recovery Service has been shortlisted for the 2021 National Recycling Awards, which will take place mid-January. Also up for an award is our Wave® range, which is applied to our PPE and Disposable products. Vote for Cromwell in the Tomorrow’s Care Awards here.
A September Clean Up
In September we dusted off our litter pickers, grab our refuses sacks and high vis jackets and took to the local area to carry out a litter pick in aid of the GB September Clean.
As well as being an eyesore on our environment, litter discarded on our streets, or that enters our rivers and seas, can harm wildlife. We have supported Keep Britain Tidy in their annual cleanups for several years now, and this year was no exception.
Both the teams at Cromwell Polythene in Sherburn in Elmet and CPR Manufacturing in Alfreton spend time cleaning up the local area, sticking to social distancing rules and taking all necessary precautions to ensure we were fully covid safe, as well as our normal health and safety procedure.
In total across our 2 sites, we collected 15kg worth of litter, in 8 refuse sacks, and counted more than 250 pieces of multiple different waste materials.
Great Sports – Golfing Success!
In Late Summer, two members of the Cromwell family attended the Foodservice Packaging Association (FPA) Golf Day, held at the Wolstanton Golf Club. Supporting this event is always an honour – but we even came home with some successes!
Account Manager, Michael Evans finished 4th place out of around 30 other competitors, and our Business Development Manager, Darren Kitchiner MCIWM is now the reigning champion, finishing in 1st place 🏆🏌️♂️
Brilliant successes from our two keen golfers and a brilliant event organised by the FPA – always a pleasure to join.
In and amongst all our great news, we also have some brilliant news about the Cromwell Family itself. Our staff are an integral part of our team and their development is key to us.
As well as welcoming new staff members aboard this year, there was also been a lot of internal successes and well-deserved promotions on the management team, which we are delighted to announce.
Former Office Manager Angus Lee has been appointed Operations Director, responsible for the efficiency and integration of all company operations. Steve Roe has been appointed Finance Director for Cromwell Polythene and CPR Manufacturing. And finally and most recently, Henry Lee, a former Business Development Manager has taken on the role of Sales Manager, effective from December 1st.
We are very proud of all of our staff across both our Cromwell sites, but would like to extend our praise to these 3 individuals on their well deserved new appointments.
