Autumn Update 2019

After a wonderfully successful summer, we are very thankful to proceed with an equally impressive autumn. Here is what we have been up to since our Summer update.

LARAC Award Success

Back in August, we entered the LARAC (The Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee) Awards 2019. This was for our partnership with Selby District Council on their Clean Driver Scheme.

This scheme encourages lorry drivers visiting our district to dispose of their rubbish responsibly. We are proud supporters, partners and advocates of this scheme – and as such entered the LARAC awards under the Best Partnership category, which we are very pleased to say we WON!

The awards took place on 3rd October, with representatives from Selby District Council in proud attendance. Our category held some strong competition, so we were overjoyed that Selby District Council were announced the winners!

We are very proud to be backing this brilliant scheme, click the link below to see how you can get involved.

Settling in

Here at Cromwell, we champion sustainability and are at the forefront of innovation, constantly expanding our range of products to help organisations be more resource efficient. Our new office reflects this commitment to building a greener and cleaner future for all!

We’re proud to be the first occupants on the new Sherburn2 Enterprise Park in Yorkshire. Our new home is a brand new purpose built headquarters and distribution facility. The building has Certificate A rating energy performance, solar panels, EV charging points, and a state-of-the-art Building Management System with heat recovery for optimum efficiency, so our business partners can be sure of a warm welcome even during the coming winter months!

This new office space enables us to handle much larger order volumes and increase our stock holding capacity, ensuring that we can continue to cater for our growing customer base.

We officially moved in on 23rd September and all staff have settled straight in to our new home.  Our new address is:  1 Glentrool Avenue, Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire LS25 6RE

Filey Beach All Cleaned Up

For the 3rd consecutive year, we have swapped our buckets and spades for litter pickers as we took part in the Great British Beach Clean. The GBBC is a nation-wide campaign that encourages people to carry out a litter pick of a 500m stretch of the coast.

We chose to clean up the Primrose Valley area of Filey beach in Yorkshire on a sunny Saturday in September. 10 members of the Cromwell team traveled to the sandy shores, equipped with our bags and litter pickers ready to collect litter.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the low levels of litter, and as such chose to carry out a further 500m clean up, resulting in a 1km beach clean in total. The main litter culprits were cigarette buds and discarded tennis balls, teared into shreds.

After an hours clean up, we collected approximately 16kg of litter containing a total of 346 items, leaving the shores of Filey litter free!

RWM Excellence

We had a very resourceful and successful RWM 2019 (11-12 September at Birmingham NEC). Introducing our brand new street scene stand showcasing the different ways to sustainable separate and collect materials for recycling, and revealed a number of additions to our impressive range.

The new stand made a big impression at the show, featuring kerbside options for recycling, including bags for collecting textiles, and clear and colour tinted sacks made from recycled polythene. Compostable sacks and liners for food and garden waste made from Ecopond® biodegradable resin were also on display.

Several members of the Cromwell team represented the company over the 2 days, with the show being a roaring success for yet another year.

James Lee, Cromwell Polythene Managing director, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that visited our stand at RWM and built a relationship with us, as we continue to champion resource efficiency.

The show was a great forum to unveil our new launches and showcase our extensive product range. It was also a great opportunity for our team to network and share ideas on best practice and innovations across the event, which is helping shape the future of sustainability.”
